Streamlining CAD to Mesh for Aircraft CFD Analysis |

The Computational Simulation and Design Center (SimCenter) at Mississippi State University is
collaborating with CADNexus to integrate CAPRI CAE Gateway in the SolidMesh grid generation
system. The integrated solution provides users with a robust and efficient system for simulation-based design.
"CAPRI has been a very valuable tool in our latest project with Cessna Aircraft
Company. Previously, the aircraft geometry was converted from the native CAD system to IGES and we had to
reconstruct the topology to make it a watertight geometry. This was a very tedious and labor intensive process
that took nearly two weeks of effort. On the latest project using CAPRI, we were able to import the native CAD
geometry and immediately begin the grid generation process. CAPRI eliminated much of the manual intervention and
streamlined the CAD-to-mesh process" comments Dr. Eric Blades of SimCenter.
The SolidMesh/AFLR unstructured grid generation software is widely used for aerospace, automotive, and naval applications.
AFLR libraries are implemented directly within SolidMesh and commercial & proprietary systems such Altair HyperMesh, IDEAS
and Boeing-MADCAP.
